Off the Couch Climber

Marty usually gets out to rock climb about once a week.. That is when he's not in the middle of the most difficult semester of school he's ever taken. It's an extremely difficult semester. His tough load consists of: Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Physiology, plus a few more classes not to mention labs for each of those first three classes, while working full time, and has busy twin boys that keep him hopping at all times!

He enjoys being outside and spending time with his Dad doing one of their (many) favorite outdoor activities. I may not be recalling this exactly right but I think I remember Gordon telling me that Marty is an off the couch 5.12 climber!! (I'll give Marty that if he's climbed it before he's able to do it but it might be too tricky if its a completely new climb). That is Really impressive though considering he climbs maybe once a week and you can bet even less than that when school is in full swing.

A few weeks ago he went to help out at a YSA activity that Gordon does occasionally. They both wanted to get up there a few hours before to get a climbing session of their own in first naturally.  I know he "only" (as Marty would say) top roped the climb Hopscotch.. But I beg to differ! It's rated 5.12b. I don't care if it's "only top rope" the fact that he can do it (when he HARDLY climbs often enough) is IMPRESSIVE to me! When he was younger he was leading this climb at the age of 11 years old! So I wanted to brag about him. :)
