It has been a Long time since I have been able to go snowboarding with Marty. It has officially been 4 full snowboarding seasons being that he left on his mission in November of 2009 before Brianhead opened. Two years of snowboarding without Marty. Then once he was home he went with his dad and wouldn't allow me to ever miss school to go with him and the year after that I was more than 3 months pregnant and unable to do anything fun. ;)
This entire week I have off work (which never happens)! My boss is out of town and so I decided that one day this week I wanted to get up to Brianhead with my husband. We were fortunate to be able to have an awesome friend of ours and my mom watch the boys for a couple of hours so that we could go together. Grandpa Larsen (Gordon) also went with us. We got to Brianhead at about 12:30 and snowboarded until 4. I guess they changed their hours recently and we were a little bummed our day was cut a little short.
Once there we met up with Gordon's friend and colleague John Tully. I had a good time boarding with the guys. We saw a back country area that had some powder that we wanted to ride. While hiking over we were warned by a "fun sucker" ski patrol that it was dangerous and he wouldn't recommend us going back there but did mention that Tully knew what he was doing lol. So I bailed out the first run seeing that Marty and I probably both shouldn't do something stupid now that we have kids..
I watched from the safety of the resort boundry and they had a blast! We went right back and all did it together. It was an awesome powder ride and I really wish I had done it the first time! We were able to do one more run down the mountain and the resort closed. It was a fun day and I am so glad we were able to go and had such a good time!
Here is a little clip of Marty riding through the back country powder.
