To our surprise Marty and I were able to make it to Lake Powell for one day this year! Since having the boys we didn't think it would be possible for a few years. However, my mom volunteered to watch the boys so that we could enjoy a day at the lake without children.. Or at least our children. It was very sweet of her! I had a blast wakeboarding, surfing, and camping. There is something about everyone gathering together around the camp fire that really I enjoy. Maybe it's the stories you hear?
We left Friday at 3:00p with Becca and Phil. We were meeting Grandpa at Antelope Point Marina at 6:00. We made it right at 6:00 and headed off to our camping spot. It was beautiful. Even just the sight of it at sunset I could tell it was a great spot! We set up our tents and enjoyed some food as well as sitting around the camp fire. The next morning we woke up to a cold morning.. Marty and Grandpa decide to hike up to one of the spires above our camp spot. While the rest of us sat by the fire. As the morning went on it felt fantastic in the sun. We ended up doing a wakeboard run a couple hours after waking up, played a fun game of two hand touch, relaxing in the sun, and then ventured up West Canyon a little ways. I got to wake surf on our way back to camp. I really enjoy surfing. I hope one day I get to actually try surfing in the ocean!
