So I have been wanting to do a post on my first pregnancy. I want to be able to remember all of it. Especially because I had twins. :)
One morning at about 7 weeks pregnant I was at work and started feeling awful. I ended up throwing up and going home.. I knew the women at work were on to me so we told our parents that night. At 10 weeks pregnant I had my first doctor's appointment. I first weighed in at 129 lbs. That day we had an ultrasound on a small older machine. When they showed me where our little baby was I saw a "mirror image" right next to it and asked, "There's just one, right?" The thought had never crossed my mind that there could be more than one baby in my belly. There are no twins in my family.
One week later it was confirmed that I had two babies growing inside my tummy!! It was quite an exciting ultrasound! It was so fun to see my two little babies moving around inside my tummy! The hardest part was that daddy wasn't able to be there with me for the ultrasound. Fortunately, my mother was able to be there with me. :)

At about this time we had a little scare. Being that this was my first pregnancy everything makes you a little more concerned. I had been throwing up and having what felt like contractions. So we made a trip to Labor and Delivery where they checked me out and gave me some fluids. Everything was just fine and we were beyond happy to hear that. |

I am so lucky to have a photographer in the family. Taylor and Heather came to town and Heather was more than happy to do some maternity photos for us. I am so glad she did them for us. They turned out amazing and I will cherish them forever. |

Right about this time my stomach was spotless.. I didn't have any stretch marks until the last week and a half of my pregnancy.. My stomach has been forever changed. I was also Dilated to a two and 75% effaced.

I worked for 35 full weeks. I had just stopped working the Friday before the boys were born. I had actually planned to go into work the day the boys were born to sit and answer phones as they needed some help at work that day.. Only to find out that I wasn't going anywhere. Our boys were coming that day. At my weekly appointment I found out I was Dilated to a 4 and completely effaced. With Spring Break in just a few days and my Doctor planning to be out of town he, along with Dr. Hale (my perinatologist), decided today was the day. I was walked from Dr. Lunt's office through the "secret" hallway into the hospital to the room I would wait in to prepare to meet my little guys.
Excuse the bikini photo but I wanted to soak up some sun on a beautiful spring day.. (Which happened to be the day before our boys were born). Marty and I couldn't believe how big my belly was..

Colten and Carter were born on Wednesday March 6th, 2013 at 4:51 (Colt) pm and 4:53 (Carter) pm. Marty and I were ecstatic to have them here and that they were healthy and ours. We were so happy to have finally met our beautiful little boys.

We were able to have Angie in the delivery room with us! So grateful she could be there. The boys then spent only one week in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We were so blessed that they were only there for one week. |
Going home!!
That bikini picture is so cute! I loved reading this post.
