Pioneer Day

This year for Pioneer Day we had quite a lot of activities to fill our day. It started off with going to Veyo with Gordon to climb for a few hours and then Marty and the boys joined us to swim.  We climbed about 7 different climbs and I led a few of them. I even did well on one of the tough climbs we did called Mocha. The crux of the climb is always difficult and hard to remember but I did it without resting or falling! I was pretty happy about that since I'm not in the best climbing shape..

Around 12 Marty and the boys joined us and we ate lunch and swam. I have never personally swam at Veyo but it was fun! There were a lot of flies.. Everywhere! They were pretty annoying. However, once we got in the pool they seemed to disappear. We had fun swimming with the boys. They always love to explore the pool. After swimming we headed home for a possible nap and the boys (Marty & Gordon were scheduled to work at 2:00). I totally forgot to take pictures darn it!

Our evening consisted of hotdogs, impromptu sprinkler play, and fireworks. We all brought a little something and after dinner played with some pop its. I wasn't sure the boys would make it to the fireworks having to wait for the sun to go down in July is later than their bedtime but Grandma wanted to try some before we left and this was their reaction:

After we had so much fun we wanted to try some fireworks with the boys to see their reaction. They seemed to like them so we decided to stay for the fireworks. It got so hot outside that someone decided to turn on a sprinkler which was a great idea!! We stripped the kids down and they had a blast. They sure get a lot of sun & water time.

After swimming came the fireworks. The boys both did quite well. They seemed to like them quite a bit. On occasion the loud bang would scare them or there would be a bright flash. I watched Carter cover his eyes a few times but other than that I'd say they loved them! Boys will be boys!!
